The Settlor of The Benjamin W. Mkapa Foundation, H.E Benjamin W. Mkapa, the former President of URT attends the 9th annual consultative meeting between BMF board of Trustees, Management Team and staffs which was held on 6th December 2016 in Dar es Salaam.

The half day event took place at white sands hotel in Dar es Salaam, started with an internal meeting to reflect to the Foundation’s achievements attained over the financial year 2015/16, the challenges and opportunities that arises in the course of program implementation. 

Addressing the meeting, the CEO of BMF, Dr. Ellen Mkondya-Senkoro presented the Foundations progress updates until June 2016 in relation to Programmes, Financial and Institutional developments. The presentation reflected the major BMF achievements within each Key Result Areas (KRAs), encountered challenges that were noted as Opportunities for Development and the Way forward

Moreover the internal meeting was used as a platform for launching the Imara Horizon Company limited board of Directors. The Imara Horizon Company Limited (IHCL) is a subsidiary company established as a special purpose vehicle of the Benjamin W. Mkapa Foundation (BMF) with the aim of facilitating and overseeing investment and business options that will secure finances for sustaining and scaling up the BMF’s programmes. IHCL board of directors includes Mr. Dudley Mawalla as Chairman, Mr. Jaffer Machano, Eng. Ladislaus Salema, Mrs. Blandina Nyoni, Dr. Ellen Mkondya-Senkoro and the Kilindu Giattas & Partners as company secretary.

Speaking on behalf of the IHCL, Mr. Dudley Mawalla, chairman of the board of directors, thanked the Settlor for believing in them to lead such a vessel and promised full dedication of their effort, commitment and time towards the success of the company.

Preceding the internal meeting the Settlor joined all BMF’s staff for a get together lunch and which also aligned with awarding of the best employee, leadership and long term service awards.

The 2015/16 best employee award went to Mr. Geofrey Nyaluke – Program Manager Health Infrastructure, Leadership award was presented to Ms. Rahel Sheiza – Director of Programs and the long term service award was honored to Dr. Ellen MKondya-Senkoro for leading the Foundation for a period of 10 years.

Greeting the BMF staffs and invited guests the Settlor congratulated the team for their dedication towards achieving the Foundation’s objectives. He urged the team to continue with the same spirit of hard work to enable the Foundation
