Message from the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation
On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Benjamin William Mkapa Foundation, we join our fellow Tanzanians, well-wishers and partners in development globally, to what we wish will be a graceful journey for year 2021.
As a Foundation, we continue to thank our Almighty God for the legacy left behind by our patriotic, inspiring and great leader, His Excellency (Late) Benjamin William Mkapa whose life touched millions worldwide through his leadership and service.
We aim to continue his legacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other health conditions which have and are continuing to negatively impact lives in the society, thus affecting the quality of life. We will maintain our interest and focus on ensuring resilient and sustainable systems that are critical in health care particularly in limited resourced and remote areas, all aiming to increase equitable access and availability of quality health care.
In celebrating the life of our hero “Mzee Mkapa”, BMF will be commemorating one-year anniversary in July 2021 since his demise, thus we humbly request each one of you to connect with us in this unique course, which will bring forward a range of people from the leaders in development to the individual communities. This will be a moment also amongst many other things, to recognize and appreciate the BMF’s collaborative efforts and success stories, that were made possible through firm vision, able guidance, and sound leadership of the Late Retired President Mkapa.
We pledge to continue to build on his dream, vision and sustain this Foundation to greater heights, to grow in strength, reach and impact health for all in Tanzania and Africa. We look forward to continue working with the Government, Development Partners, Private Sector and the people themselves to ensure improvements in provision of healthcare and more importantly the healthy lives of our people.
Dr. Adeline Kimambo
Chair of the Board of Trustees.
