4th Mkapa Legacy Summit
Save the Date | 14 – 16 July 2026
To commemorate this milestone, Dar es Salaam will host two important gatherings. The Human Resources for Health Conference (14–15 July 2026) will bring together policymakers, practitioners, development partners, and emerging leaders to advance dialogue on strengthening the health workforce, a vital pillar of resilient health systems. As we are also aware that Africa’s youth, including Tanzania, are driving transformative change in health systems through digital innovation, leadership, resilience, and entrepreneurship, during this event, young developers and health professionals will showcase technologies such as telemedicine, AI tools, and digital learning platforms that strengthen HRH training and service delivery.
Discussions will also highlight the need to elevate youth leadership in HRH governance, address mental‑health and resilience challenges faced by young frontline workers, and tackle barriers to employment and career progression. Collectively, the sessions aim to emphasize that empowering youth with supportive policies, mentorship, investment, and enabling systems is essential for building a stronger, more innovative, and future-ready health workforce for Africa.
The conversations will culminate in the 4th Mkapa Legacy Summit (16 July 2026), honouring the leadership philosophy and enduring values of our Founder while inspiring dialogue on ethical leadership, governance, and sustainable development.
