At Benjamin Mkapa Foundation (BMF), we believe that lasting change is built from the ground up. That’s why we are proud to share one of our most impactful initiatives yet: the empowerment of 255 trained Community Health Workers (CHWs) with essential tools and resources to transform the way healthcare is delivered nationwide.
This milestone was achieved through a powerful collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), and with the generous funding support from Irish Aid.
Tools That Go Beyond Equipment: They Unlock Potential
When a Community Health Worker (CHW) walks into a village equipped with the right tools, they are not just a worker, they are a symbol of hope, a lifeline, and a bridge between health services and the underserved.
To ensure CHWs can operate effectively in their local environments, each of the 255 workers received:
🖥️ 1 Tablet (Vishkwambi) – to collect real-time health data, track patient care, and stay connected with health facilities.
🎒 1 Backpack – for carrying essential health supplies and documents.
🌂 1 Umbrella – to provide protection in all weather conditions, especially during outreach in remote areas.
🥾 1 Pair of Rain Boots – because healthcare doesn’t stop when it rains.
🔦 1 Flashlight – to ensure safe and effective visits even in areas without electricity.
