Governance Structure
The Settlor of the Mkapa Foundation is His Excellency Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council. He took over the settlorship in December 2021 after the passing of the first Settlor and founder, the late Benjamin William Mkapa in July 2020.
The governance of the Foundation is overseen by a Board of Trustees, appointed periodically by the Settlor as defined by the Trust Deed. The current Board comprises eight members and is led by a Chairperson, Ambassador Liberata Mulamula, effective from September 01, 2024.
The day-to-day management of the Foundation is coordinated and led by the Chief Executive Officer.
