Other delegates included the ambassadors from different countries, private sectors executives, Non-State Actors, Family members and friends of the Late Former President Mkapa.

The symposium was held for two days. This year theme for this symposium was “Mkapa’s Legacy: Resilient Leadership -Inspiring Change for All”. The official guest on the first day of the symposium on 13 July 2022 was the First Vice President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, His Excellency Othman Masoud. During this event, panel discussions covered two main topics:

The deliberation at the event was very clear and in line with the Late Benjamin Mkapa’s philosophy, a healthy labor force will produce a healthy economy. Access to quality and affordable healthcare and the achievement of SDG 3: Good health and well-being is in essence the key to sustainable development in Tanzania. Thus, innovative Public-Private partnership approaches that foster development in the health sector are increasingly important for the transformation of the health sector and development in Tanzania.

The second day, 14th July 2022 was the Symposium summit with the Guest of Honor, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan. This day was a reflection on Mkapa’s leadership, advocating resilient and transformative leadership and collaboration within the Private and Public Sector to improve the health sector in Tanzania.

“If we want to go fast and reach our 2030 goal of better health for all, then we have to change our attitude that we can do it alone. The notion that the government can and will do everything must change. We must involve the private sector so that we can go fast and get the results that we want.” –Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania
