This theme is inclined to the fact that there is growing global recognition that demographic changes are critical to human capital development and to countries development prospects. Sustaining a robust and resilient health system is critical in combatting communicable and the increasing non- communicable health conditions/diseases; ensuring national and global health security; adoption of fast-growing technology and Artificial Intelligence and on addressing the effects of Climate change on Health. Similarly, advancement and prioritization on gender equality is a cornerstone to achieving socio-economic development.
Furthermore, the theme is aligning to the fact that Tanzania National Development Vision 2025 which was inaugurated in year 2005 by the then President of URT, H.E. Benjamin Mkapa, is on its countdown phase, and the major achievements and lessons learnt from this framework is geared towards informing the upcoming National Development Vision 2050 of Tanzania. Moreover, there are six (6) years remaining to clock the SDG and UHC goals by 2030. This Mkapa Legacy platform will allow reflection on the set goals particularly, those related to health and well-being.
Thus, keeping the above into perspective, we are all set for a new horizon, locally and globally which fundamentally requires adaptive, inclusive and resilient leadership at all levels and centrally placing localization for sustainable development.
